History of Ice- Hockey in Ladakh 

The sports seem to have started in the 70s when the army posted along the line of actual control started playing, they seem to have put in the effort to teach locals as well. Locals in the region seem to have picked up very well. They started playing with homemade skating boots with removable blades installed on the army boots while using local wood nailed synthetic plastic as blades of the stick. Goalies were often spotted using a cricket pad and chest guard made of cardboard. But around the 70s there was a new breed of ice hockey promoters whose seeds were also being sown and later emerged as one of the biggest ambassadors of ice hockey in the region i,e the opening of Ladakh for Foreign Tourists. It is known that these tourists were initially seen to just visit the place…
